Mazda Australia has capped off a record first quarter performance with a best-ever month of 9,345 sales according to VFACTS figures released today.

That is 207 sales up on the company’s previous best result of 9,138 last August.

Strong demand for All-New CX-5 and BT-50 sent sales sky-rocketing with the All-New CX-5 achieving an impressive 1,419 retails and All-New BT-50 not far behind at 1,124.

Mazda’s SUV sales were further boosted by 492 sales of CX-7 now in runout, which together with All-New CX-5, brought Mazda’s total in the Medium SUV segment to 1,911 (21.5 per cent share).

Clocking up 3,818 retails, Mazda3, Australia’s top-selling car last year, continued its strong run holding on to top spot for March and the quarter.

Mazda2 with 1,510 sales (up 9.6 per cent YTD) and the Mazda6 with 561 sales (up 18.1 per cent YTD) also posted strong results.

Mazda Australia remains the country’s top-selling full-line importer. So far this year retails are up 15.9 per cent and market share up one percentage point to 10.2 per cent.

Mazda Australia’s managing director, Doug Dickson said: “We are delighted with Australian car buyer’s response to our latest offerings – BT-50 and CX-5. Our first quarter running rate continues to give us confidence for a strong sales year but we will not be losing focus on looking after our valued customers.”

Lightweight and high-rigidity SKYACTIV Body provides top-class safety performance –

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that the All-New Mazda CX-5 has been named a “Top Safety Pick” for 2012, the highest possible safety rating, by the US-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in their crashworthiness tests.

The IIHS evaluation methods include: frontal offset test for a vehicle driving at 40mph (approximately 64km/h), side impact test for a vehicle driving at 31mph (50km/h), rear crash protection for a vehicle driving at 20mph (32km/h) and roof strength test.

These tests determine a vehicles’ protection performance as: “Good”, “Acceptable”, “Marginal” or “Poor” based on deformation of the vehicle and the performance of the safety equipment. A vehicle qualifies a Top Safety Pick if the vehicle earns a ”Good” rating in all four tests.

The All-New Mazda CX-5 is the first of Mazda’s new-generation products to fully adopt its breakthrough SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY to powertrains, body structure and chassis as well as the company’s new ‘KODO – SOUL of MOTION’ design theme.

Mazda’s All-New CX-5 will deliver a compelling mix of style and space when it joins the newly-classified medium SUV segment later this month.

The Mazda CX-5 will be the first new entrant into the newly-classified medium SUV segment and with SUV buyers typically requiring ample space for a wide variety of uses, Mazda has designed the CX-5 to fit perfectly with busy lifestyles.

An overall length of 4,540mm and an overall width of 1,840mm ensures that the CX-5 offers the right combination of passenger comfort and luggage space.

Rear seat passengers will experience an increase in leg room of 72mm over the popular CX-7 while head room and cargo room volume have also increased.

The footprint of the All-New CX-5 is larger than first impressions might suggest with its overall dimensions of 8.4m2 being bigger than Australia’s four best-selling compact SUVs of 2011.

These dimensions also play a big part in the CX-5s powerful and well-proportioned stance as well as complementing the new KODO design language.

With the CX-5 being built on an entirely new platform designed to incorporate Mazda’s new SKYACTIV Technology, smarter interior packaging and sharp exterior design is complemented by improved fuel efficiency and enhanced driving dynamics…Read More!

Mazda Australia has smashed its previous January best with 8,479 sales last month, providing it with an 11.0 per cent market share, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

This is an increase of 1,279 new vehicles or 17.8 per cent on last January and in addition to its record market share also makes it Mazda’s fourth best month ever.

There were several star performers across the range with Mazda3, Australia’s best-selling car in 2011, picking up where it left off with 4,045 sales to again top the sales charts.

This is now the third time in the past year that the Mazda3 has found more than 4,000 buyers in a single month.

In the light segment, Mazda2 kept its lead position with 1,624 January sales and its third strongest month ever. This is a 19% increase over the same month last year.

Mazda6 started the new year in style. Recently upgraded with leather upholstery and parking sensors across the range, Mazda6 record 663 sales, its strongest month in over a year.

Also vying for the limelight was CX-7 which secured its best ever result with 1,167 sales to claim second place in the hotly contested Medium SUV segment.

And with the All-New CX-5 about to hit Australian shores, Mazda is optimistic about achieving further SUV sales success.

Mazda Australia managing director, Doug Dickson said, “We are both delighted and humbled by customer acceptance of our whole range during January. While we are quietly confident of a strong year, particularly with the imminent launch of our all-new CX-5, our primary focus will remain on looking after our customers.”

The Mazda Motorsport team has confirmed that they will be returning for Targa Wrest Point, the second round of the Australian Tarmac Championship.

After successful testing sessions, the rally will see both the Mazda3 MPS and the Mazda RX-8 SP competing over two gruelling days and 14 closed road stages around Hobart.

Victorian-based siblings, Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth will be piloting Mazda’s turbo rotary RX-8 SP. In three previous championships, the siblings have been successful drivers of the Mazda3 MPS, but now step up to the more powerful RX-8 SP for the first time, a move which demonstrates Mazda’s faith in Reeves.

The dynamic brother and sister duo have competed together for Mazda in seven rallies and in their Mazda3 MPS have secured five first places.

Reeves, who tested the RX-8 SP around Wakefield Park last month, was most enthusiastic about its performance, saying, “I am really excited to be driving the RX-8 SP at Targa Wrest Point. Although I have loved driving the Mazda3 MPS in previous rallies, it’s great to be able to step up to another challenge and get behind the wheel of the RX-8, a car which has the potential to take it to the main challengers in the Modern category…Read more!

Mazda has moved closer to a new annual sales record with 8,031 new vehicles finding homes last month due to a best-ever November performance.

This result eclipses Mazda’s previous November best, set in 2009, by a huge 1,437 new vehicles and provided the company with a 9.1 per cent market share.

Mazda’s potential to set another new sales record is underlined by the fact that its year-to-date sales performance is 3,197 new vehicles ahead of the same period last year. As a result, Mazda’s year-to-date market share is now 8.7 percent, a 0.5 per cent increase on last year.

Illustrating the wide appeal of the Mazda range, the company has so far recorded year-to-date increases across Mazda2, Mazda3, and BT-50.

With 1,449 November sales and a 13.6 per cent segment share year-to-date, the Mazda2 now sits over 1,500 sales ahead of its nearest rival and looks set to end the year as Australia’s favourite light car.

The evergreen Mazda3 continued to kick goals in November with 3,480 sales, a huge increase of 500 over the same month last year. So far this year, the Mazda3 has secured a record 17.7 per cent market share and in addition to now being certain to be 2011’s best-selling small car, also looks certain to be one of the two best-selling cars overall…Read more!
